Glimmers | A Romantic Anniversary Weekend in the Pacific Northwest
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of celebrating my anniversary with my husband on a beautiful getaway to the Pacific Northwest. The stunning natural landscapes, lush forests, and the refreshing ocean breeze provided the perfect backdrop for our adventure. We explored iconic spots like Ruby Beach and the majestic Tree of Life, all while capturing memories through our lenses. Here’s a glimpse into our unforgettable weekend.
Exploring Ruby Beach
Our journey began at Ruby Beach, known for its dramatic shoreline and captivating rock formations. The waves crashed against the rugged coastline, creating a symphony of sound that was both calming and invigorating. Armed with my camera, we wandered along the beach, capturing the interplay of light and shadow on the wet sand. As we snapped photos of the breathtaking scenery, we took a moment to exchange portraits of each other. It’s a tradition of ours to document our adventures together through photography, and Ruby Beach offered an array of beautiful settings. The contrast of the dark, wet rocks against the bright blue sky made for striking images that we’ll cherish forever.
The Tree of Life
Next, we visited the Tree of Life, a remarkable natural wonder that stands resiliently against the elements. This living tree, nestled among a backdrop of towering evergreens, felt like a symbol of endurance and love—perfect for our anniversary. As we marveled at its grandeur, we took turns capturing each other’s portraits beneath its expansive branches. While there, we met some lovely women who were visiting from various parts of the United States. They were struggling to set up their cell phone camera for a group photo, and I couldn't resist offering my help. It turned out to be a delightful encounter! One of the women, Anna, was celebrating her birthday that day. We snapped a few joyful portraits for them, capturing their laughter and the spirit of the moment.
Lunch at the Kalaloch Lodge
After our mini photo shoot, we headed to a nearby campground for lunch. The air was filled with the scent of pine and the sounds of nature, making it a tranquil spot to enjoy our meal. We relished the moment, savoring the flavors of our food while soaking in the beauty around us. Sharing this experience with my husband made it all the more special, as we reflected on our journey together.
An Evening with Family and Friends
As the sun began to set, we wrapped up our day with a cozy dinner surrounded by family and friends—along with our dogs, of course! The warmth of good company and delicious food made for a perfect end to our anniversary celebration. We shared stories, laughter, and memories, all while looking back on our day of exploration.
A Weekend to Remember
This anniversary weekend was not just about the stunning locations we visited; it was about the memories we created together. From capturing portraits at Ruby Beach to helping strangers celebrate their special moments, every experience added a layer of joy to our adventure. As a photographer, I’m grateful for the opportunities these trips provide to not only improve my craft but also connect with others through the lens. Each image tells a story, and this weekend was filled with stories worth telling. I’m titling this blog post "Glimmers," as glimmers represent the opposite of triggers. It was a wonderful rejuvenation, reminding me of what is truly important in life—the beauty of connection, love, and the natural world around us. If you’re planning a getaway to the Pacific Northwest, I highly recommend exploring these beautiful locations. Bring your camera, your sense of adventure, and, most importantly, the people you love. Here’s to more photographic adventures ahead!
